A state-wide highway safety crackdown on commercial trucks, buses and tractor-trailers has taken 153 vehicles off of Connecticut roads.
The spot checks over a three day period last week were made along Interstate 95 and Interstate 91, as well as on Interstate 84 and Interstate 395.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles says 489 vehicles were inspected and 411 tickets were issued for safety violations.
The state police, DMV inspectors and two local police departments also pulled 70 drivers off the road.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell says the numbers show that Connecticut has zero tolerance for unsafe trucks and drivers on state roadways.
