A year after a New Hampshire man was killed on an Interstate 495 construction job, his parents are campaigning for new rules to improve workplace safety.
Robert Augeri of Londonderry died last June on his 31st birthday when a Mack truck backed into him in the closed left travel lane on Interstate 495 in Lawrence, Mass. He was working on a highway paving job for Brox Industries of Dracut, Mass.
The truck was driven by a subcontractor employed by Lewis Maynard Trucking. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited both companies.
Augeri’s parents, Christopher and Janet Augeri of Lowell, Mass., are campaigning for “Rob’s Law,” which would require trucks to be outfitted with rear motion sensors and other safety devices, including day/night rearview cameras, The Eagle Tribune reported.
