State investigators found more than 56 people under the legal drinking age of 21 in possession of alcohol last weekend as part of an ongoing effort to crack down on underage drinking across the state.
The Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission says in addition, it found 33 people who bought or attempted to buy alcohol for someone else under 21 and six people with fake identification on Sept. 4.
Commission investigator Ted Mahony says no one under 21 was arrested, but their parents and respective colleges were called because they can better address the issue.
Those who bought or attempted to buy alcohol for people under 21 will likely face charges.
Mahony says investigators, with the cooperation of management, posed as store clerks at two Brighton liquor stores.
