A New York official says a dump truck that set off a fatal crash in Manhattan’s Chinatown should not have been on the road.
State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jennifer Post says the vehicle had defective components that needed to be fixed before being operated.
Authorities say the truck came off the Manhattan Bridge Monday
morning and rear-ended a parked bus, shoving it into a bank’s
window. Fifty-seven-year-old Lai (LIE) Ho suffered a heart attack
after she was struck by a sign from a fallen light pole.
At the time, people were boarding the bus for a trip to Boston.
