Communities along the Connecticut River are being told to prepare for the possibility of flooding over the next few weeks.
The heavy snowfall in northern New England this winter, combined with one of the wettest months of February on record, has forecasters worried about what will happen when all that snow begins to melt and run downstream.
The National Weather Service warned last week that the seasonal flood potential is “above to well above normal” for the Connecticut River and its tributaries.
Forecasters say a rapid warm-up combined with more heavy rain could add to the danger.
