Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) Director Adrian King, Jr. recently announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved PEMA’s request to add Susquehanna County for federal Individual Assistance (IA). Assistance was approved for Bradford, Bucks, Columbia, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Wayne and Wyoming Counties earlier last month.
“The April 2 storm brought unusually heavy rains to several Pennsylvania counties triggering flooding that destroyed homes, businesses, roads and bridges and other essential community infrastructure,” said King. “FEMA’s approval of the Commonwealth’s federal aid request will now provide grants and loans to help eligible residents and businesses Susquehanna County contend with and recover from this natural disaster.”
Individual Assistance, coordinated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration will also be available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
