Preserver Group, Inc. announced that Patrick J. Haveron had been promoted to president and chief executive officer.
Haveron, who had been co-CEO with Stephen A. Gilbert, replaces Gilbert as president. Gilbert will remain with the company as its vice chairman and as a member of the board of directors. Gilbert joined the company in 1967 as associate general counsel and was named president in 1988.
Haveron started his career with the public accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. He joined the company in 1988 as its controller and was promoted to chief financial officer in 1993. He was made co-CEO with Gilbert in September 1999.
Preserver Group, Inc. owns insurance subsidiaries with a regional focus specializing in small to mid-sized commercial lines. Its principal operating subsidiaries include Preserver Insurance Company, which writes small commercial insurance in New Jersey and New Hampshire and homeowners in New Jersey; Mountain Valley Indemnity Company which writes small and mid-sized commercial insurance in New England and New York; and North East Insurance Company, which writes private passenger automobile insurance in Maine and small commercial lines insurance in Maine and New York.
