Larry Silverstein was once again present in Judge Michael Mukasey’s Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, but as a witness in the World Trade center trial rather than a participant.
Even though he was not held in contempt, he’s been barred from attending the remainder of the trial following inflammatory remarks he made last week that violated the judge’s order (See IJ Website March 22, 23).
According to news reports Silverstein told jurors that he had had a conversation with a friend on the day following the Sept. 11 attacks, who warned him that he would have trouble with his insurers.
He was the first witness called by his attorneys after the insurance companies concluded their case. His appearance was brief – only about half an hour – as Judge Mukasey restricted the scope of his testimony.
