Florida’s BB&T Insurance Services has promoted Gino Littlestone to senior vice president in BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Co.’s commercial lines division specializing in condominiums. Littlestone has been employed with BB&T-OTC for more than 18 years. He received BB&T-OTC’s President’s Club Award eight times for exceeding goals by 10 percent.
BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Co. has offices in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Holmes Beach, Miami, Naples, Ocala and Weston, Florida. BB&T Insurance Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of BB&T. It operates more than 100 insurance agencies.
To meet the demand for cyber insurance in the U.S. and Canada, XL Group’s Global Professional unit said it has established a North America Cyber & Technology Risk business unit. The new business is being led by John Coletti in New York.
Previously Cyber & Technology underwriting manager within XL Group’s Select Professional business, Coletti is being promoted to chief underwriting officer of the new business unit.
XL Group previously provided cyber and technology error and omissions insurance coverage through its Select Professional business unit. Greg Hendrick, chief executive of XL Group’s global insurance operations, said the new unit puts XL’s cyber risk team in better position to grow and develop cyber insurance products.
CNA Financial Corp. has promoted Oliver Travieso to the position of small business sales manager for the Southeast zone. In this role, Travieso will have primary responsibility for managing the company’s small business book in Alabama, Georgia, and North and South Carolina. He is based in the Charlotte, N.C. region.
Travieso joined CNA in 2010. He served as a small business field sales specialist before transitioning into middle market underwriting for the Charlotte branch.
CNA’s Southeastern zone comprises Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and includes offices in Atlanta, Birmingham, Charlotte, Maitland, Nashville and New Orleans.
Canal Insurance Co. in Greenville, South Carolina, has named Tim Horgan as vice president, Transportation, and chief marketing officer, and Bob Pace, vice president and chief claims officer, to the executive leadership team.
Horgan assumes profit and loss accountability for all Canal’s trucking and specialty automobile business except the large fleet unit. Horgan will also be responsible for all phases of marketing, agency relations and communication. He comes to Canal after a career that has included underwriting, marketing and regional management at Continental, followed by nearly 20 years in 天美网站传媒传媒’s transportation business, the last seven as profit center head.
Pace, as chief claims officer, will provide leadership for Canal’s claims organization. Pace joins Canal after a career that has included 11 years as a practicing attorney, followed by 12 years in the Travelers Insurance claims department, the last six of which as chief claims officer for Northland. Pace’s last role in the Travelers organization was to lead the Northfield underwriting organization.
Canal specializes in insurance for commercial trucking and specialty transportation through professional agents.
Adam W. Zupkoff, who teaches at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla., is the 2014 InVEST Teacher of the Year.
InVEST is an industry-supported program that provides students with knowledge of the basics of insurance needed to pursue a career in the industry.
“Great teachers, like Adam Zupkoff, are the backbone of the InVEST program which provides much needed financial literacy education and is critical for the success of the industry,” said Robert G. Slocum, InVEST board chair and president of The Slocum Agency, Inc., an independent agency in Warwick, R.I.
“Mr. Zupkoff’s dedication to his students and InVEST has resulted in a wonderfully successful program at Dr. Phillips High School. We are honored to present him with this year’s InVEST Program Teacher of the Year award.”
Zupkoff has taught high school for 20 years, including 15 years on the Dr. Phillips High School faculty. He was secretly nominated for the award by his students.
He earned a bachelor’s degree at Bentley College and a master’s in education at Nova Southeastern University. Additionally, he earned the highest teacher certification level from the National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs).
Zupkoff, an eternal student, has also taken courses at St. Johns University’s Insurance Education Institute for Middle School and High School Teachers and all the teacher programs offered by the Foundation for Teaching Economics.
