The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) elected Pat Arthur, shareholder at MHBT in Dallas, to serve as chairman for 2014-2015 during IIAT’s 117th Annual Conference and Trade Show in San Antonio.

Peter Lauve of CBS Insurance LLP in Abilene was elected to serve as vice chair. Bill Kliewer of BKCW in Killeen is chair-elect.

Arthur has been in the insurance and risk management profession since 1982, with significant expertise and client experience in the hospitality, restaurant, real estate, oil and gas, construction, legal, non-profit and distribution industries.

Arthur has been with MHBT since 1998 and an owner since 2003.

Lauve is a multi-line agent and partner at CBS Insurance. He holds Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation

Kliewer has more than 35 years of insurance, financial and management experience, and is a managing partner at BKCW.

The new officers’ terms begin Sept. 1.

IIAT also named James Russell of Texas Associates Insurors/NewFirst Insurors in El Campo as the Andre P. Juneau Young Agent of the Year. In addition, the association honored Jason Billingslea of The Hartford in Houston with the Young Associate of the Year award.

The young agent award is given annually to a young agent in Texas who has achieved success through hard work, community engagement and industry participation in a manner that would be considered exceptional for a person of his or her age.

Russell is a partner at Texas Associates Insurors/NewFirst Insurors and has been the top producer at his agency six times since 2007. Russell has an extensive knowledge of construction and oil and gas risks that he gained by participating in industry groups like the Association of Energy Companies and the Texas Oil and Gas Association.

A graduate of IIAT’s Producer Development Program and Leadership Academy, Russell is currently pursuing his Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation.

The young associate award is a new one for the association. It recognizes a young associate member of IIAT who demonstrates exceptional service to the industry, the association and community. Associate members include insurance companies, general agencies, automation vendors and other businesses serving the independent agency community.

Billingslea provides support for independent agents who produce small commercial business. He is a licensed property and casualty insurance adjuster and is in the process of earning his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Billingslea is a former member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas and served on their Young Agents Committee until 2012. He is currently the chairman of IIA Houston’s Young Professionals Committee, and in conjunction with the committee, he created the first Annual Houston Young Professionals Symposium in 2013.

Global insurance broker and risk management specialist, Marsh, appointed Tom Swartz as head of its Tulsa, Okla., office.

Swartz is responsible for delivering Marsh’s advisory and transactional services to clients throughout Oklahoma.

He succeeds John Newell, who will remain with Marsh in a South Central partnership leadership role.

Swartz brings 25 years of leadership and risk management experience to his new role, most recently serving as Marsh’s South Central partnership environmental leader in Houston. Prior to joining Marsh in 2002, Swartz spent 13 years at Law Engineering, where he held various zone leadership positions throughout the United States and abroad.

Kristina Donaldson, account manager at Messer-Bowers Company, an independent insurance agency in Enid, Okla., was recently named International Client Service Professional of the Year at the annual convention of the International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP).

The award recognizes an insurance professional who has demonstrated superior knowledge of the industry’s service and support field, experienced professional advancement through educational pursuits, demonstrated leadership in the field, and is an active participant in IAIP activities.

Donaldson is a member of the Insurance Association of Enid, a local association of the IAIP, which is dedicated to the development of leaders in the insurance and risk management industries through education, networking and industry alliances.

Risk and insurance advisor group, Crystal & Company, welcomed Krista Tankersley as managing director of its Private Client Services group, which has expanded to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Tankersley has more than 20 years of experience as a licensed broker focusing primarily on personal insurance. Prior to joining Crystal & Company, she was the vice president of NFP, formerly Lane McVicker, opening its first Dallas office. Before that, she served for 11 years as founding shareholder and executive vice president of MarketScout.

Crystal & Company is headquartered in New York, with 10 offices across the United States.

Underwriting manager Victor O. Schinnerer & Co. Inc. announced that Jake Terrell joined the firm as vice president and sales manager for the Southeast and South Central United States. Terrell is based in Dallas and reports to Brian Hanuschak, head of distribution for Victor O. Schinnerer & Company.

Terrell will oversee the development and execution of sales initiatives for his territory, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

Prior to joining Schinnerer, Terrell served as director of specialty underwriting for Hanover Insurance Group where he oversaw the daily underwriting, marketing, and sales operations for professional liability products in the Southeast.

The South Central operation of All Risks Ltd. added Brandi Bingham as producer in its Dallas office.

Bingham joins the South Central operation as a brokerage underwriter and brings proven abilities in sales, marketing and business development. She will handle a wide array of commercial brokerage risks as well as MGA facilities.

All Risks also added Misty Guzman, Matthew Treadway, Jennifer Nagle and Charles Jackson in its New Orleans, La., office.

Guzman was hired as sales leader. Having been in leadership roles at CRC/Crump, she will now be leading growth for the All Risks’ New Orleans office as they continue to expand throughout the South Central region.

Treadway was added as a brokerage underwriter. He has worked in retail, claims and most recently, as a producer at Burns & Wilcox. Treadway will be handling larger brokerage accounts, as well as access to MGA facilities.

Nagle joined the team as an associate broker, assisting with building All Risks’ South Central brokerage operations. Formerly with CRC/Crump, Nagle was responsible for a large book of business. She brings a broad understanding of the contract binding underwriting guidelines, as well as unique industries located in the southern Louisiana region.

Jackson joined the New Orleans team as a production associate. He previously was with Bass Underwriters.

Risks Ltd. is based in Hunt Valley, Md.

Cree Teel joined the Burns & Wilcox Brokerage team in North Dallas as vice president and broker.

He will work closely with Managing Director David M. Gross to provide expert counsel to clients on oil and gas, environmental, manufacturing and construction coverage needs.

Teel brings more than a decade of industry experience to his role at Burns & Wilcox Brokerage. Most recently, Teel was vice president at Insential Inc. Previously, he was an underwriter at Liberty Mutual, 天美网站传媒传媒 and Zurich Insurance Group.

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak welcomed Gordon Amini back to the Oklahoma Insurance Department as senior attorney. Amini was previously employed at OID from 1977-1981 and brings 37 years of legal and insurance industry experience to the department.

Amini is recently retired from Physicians Liability Insurance Company (PLICO) after a nine-year tenure as senior vice president and general counsel.

Amini’s employment began June 18.
