GEICO has continued the expansion of its new auto insurance product for drivers of transportation network companies (TNC) with the addition of Georgia.
GEICO offers ridesharing coverage through GEICO Commercial for less than taxi and commercial rates. GEICO first introduced its ridesharing product in Virginia and Maryland earlier this year and feedback from customers on pricing and service has been positive, according to the company.
Othello Powell, director of GEICO commercial lines, said the offering covers both personal and ridesharing use and meets the needs of customers “both in coverage and pricing.”
“The insurance applies whether or not the app is on and whether or not you have a passenger.
It’s also priced significantly less than a commercial policy so that TNC drivers can save money, even if they’re only occasionally using their car for on-demand services,” said Powell.
