Nuts & Bolts: Wilkes Barre, Pa.-based GUARD Insurance Group is expanding its workers’ compensation offerings into the Midwest. The company is in the process of appointing producers to commence operations in Michigan and Indiana during the early part of 2004 with additional states under consideration for later in the year. GUARD targets small to medium-sized workers’ compensation submissions. While larger policies are considered, about 75 percent of the organization’s book is historically composed of employers with premiums of less than $25,000. Low- to moderate-risk businesses are preferred.
Dollars: The employer liability limits offered will be the amount required by law, with higher limits available subject to underwriting approval. A minimum premium will be determined by the class code minimum filed in the state of exposure.
