Arizona is set to get $5.2 million in disaster aid from the Department of Agriculture.
USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the award as part of more than $300 million in emergency assistance to 33 states and Puerto Rico.
Utah and Missouri will receive the most money, together taking in $109 million.
Arizona’s cut of the Department of Agriculture watershed and conservation emergency funds will be used to pay for projects to alleviate flooding in northern Arizona’s Coconino County. The area was hit in June 2010 by the Schultz fire, which burned about 15,000 acres.
A spokesman with the Arizona office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service said Arizona requested the funds early last year but was put on a national waiting list.
