Tennessee has received reimbursement for last May’s flooding that damaged state buildings and other state-owned property. Treasurer David Lillard says the state received a $7.5 million check from Lexington Insurance Co. The state got a $5 million check as an initial payment from the company last June.
Officials say state buildings and other state-owned property sustained an estimated $20 million in damages during the flooding. Lexington Insurance is expected to cover approximately $15 million of that total. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is also expected to provide $4 million to cover flood damage, with the state covering the remaining $1 million.
