Connecticut insurance regulators recovered almost $3.2 million last year for consumers involved in formal disputes with their insurers over claims payments, regulators said.
There were 6,798 complaints and inquiries lodged last year, the bulk of which focused on Accident and Health product lines.
Auto lines were the second-largest source of complaints. Over 1,300 auto insurance complaints and inquiries were received in 2009, and consumers recovered $478,498, or about 15 percent of total recoveries.
Homeowners product lines accounted for over 10 percent of complaints and consumers in this category recovered $372,772, or about 12 percent of total recoveries.
